Neck of the Woods Winery
Blanc de Noir Brut NV
Langley
$20-24 +660605 available at winery and select private wine stores
Last week’s BC VQA fall release in Vancouver was a colourful affair, with whites, roses and reds aplenty. This bottle of Blanc de Noir caught my eye, and not just because of the striking label (though their whole packaging program is pretty great). One of the newer Fraser Valley wineries, Neck of the Woods uses both estate and Okanagan grapes for their wines. This particular bottle was the first estate bottled sparkling from the Fraser Valley appellation, and is 100% Pinot Noir. Large, frothy mousse, crisp lime-lemon, Granny Smith apple and a medium body in this exuberant bubble. Creamy white peach notes remain after the glass is but a memory. Albacore tuna salad would make a fine match.
