Drift Izakaya

Asian tapas in the Kootenays quickly becoming a destination restaurant

Celebrating its 1 year anniversary in December, Drift Izakaya steers après ski a new route in Rossland BC. Under the direction of former Toronto and Vancouver chef, Aaron Molloy, this izakaya is thriving on the tapas-style model. The 19th century Japanese sepia photos compliment the French and Korean inspired daily specials: robata, noodles, tartar, dry aged beef and rolls like the "sock it to me".

did you know?

The Bartlett pear we know today in North America is the same variety that is still called the Williams Bon Chretien in many other parts of the world.

Discovered originally in 1765 by a schoolmaster in England named Mr. Stair, the Bartlett was once known by the charming name, Stair's Pear. A nurseryman named Williams later acquired the variety and took it to England where it became popular under his name, William Bon Chretien.
