It’s not just World Cup.  It seems it might actually be – summer!  Just like world cup, summer’s arrival has been anxiously awaited.  So move the TV to the patio, because this South African white pairs well with sunshine.

Let me start off by saying - this Chenin Blanc (a.k.a Steen in S. Afr.) is an everyday steal, even on our BC market.  Old bush vines, mineral rich granite slopes, ocean cooled, hand-picked, free-run juice, stainless steel ferment, 6 months en sur lie…  Ok, ok – enough geeking out – how does it taste?  Fresh, bright and crisp, with honeysuckle, juicy pear, grapefruit sorbet, and crystalline minerality throughout.  Bright acid and a creamy, leesy mouthfeel take you through to a dry citrus finish.  All this – for $14?!   GOAL!

This is the entry level range for The Winery of Good Hope – an impressive thought.  If they take this much care with step one, it makes you want to keep climbing that staircase.
